EstimatorVJ Advisory
EstimatorVJ Locking Up
CCSi have been receiving support calls occasionally for EstimatorVJ 'locking up', and until just recently, CCSi have not been able to reproduce the problem.
However, during a Training course just recently, one of the Trainees experienced this.
Upon investigation the reason was discovered. The trainee was
'minimising' windows and then performing actions which related to a
minimised window.
e.g.
The Program Window was minimised, then in a currently open Project, the
option 'Project->Open' was selected. This action
caused an apparent 'program freeze' as clicking on any window
would give a 'warning bell' and nothing would happen.
Reason: When you click 'Project->Open', the dialog which gives you a list of available projects is brought up "relative to the Progam Window",
but because the Program Window was minimized, so also was the 'list of
projects dialog', and because this 'project list' needed a response
before the program would continue, it would just sit there giving the
impression the program had 'crashed' even though it hadn't.
CCSi is currently working on this to prevent the circumstances like the
one described from happening, and will release an update when addressed.
In the meantime, we strongly suggest you do not minimise any Windows in VJ until notified.
